Digimizer, a flexible image analysis software package offered for free by MedCalc Software, provides support for multiple image formats: JPG, GIF, TIFF, BMP, PNG, WMF, EMF and DICOM. Use the Open Image dialog or the Ctrl + O shortcut to load a supported image format into the Digimizer application. Once the image is loaded into Digimizer, you can perform calibrated measurements on it. That’s what Digimizer can do – perform measurements on digital images. You can use the Unit tool to calibrate the measurements.
Because of its calculus speed, a computer is used for accurate expressions, measurements and specialized design. The are various applications you can use in this regard, with Digimizer being one of them. It comes equipped with a set of powerful measurement tools with automatic gathering and storing of data.
The application tries to prove its point right from the start, and you notice this because of the impressive variety of supported image formats. Although you can't drag items of interest over the main window, you can use the dedicated file explorer to import formats like JPG, TIF, BMP, GIF and DICOM.
It all becomes easy once you load an image, with the intuitive design quickly getting you up and running. Most of the space is your interactive preview section, with side panels that gather up measurement data, topped by a toolbar fitted with all you need.
Before measuring, you can take advantage of a few image processing utilities to crop, rotate, resize and even adjust a few color related settings. You can also enable a grid for enhanced accuracy when using drawing tools.
As mentioned above, you can use the application to import specialized images that need to be measured. There are two tables at your disposal that automatically fill up with values for each object and line you draw. Corresponding info is also generated, with fields ranging from label to color specifications, size, coordinates, units and more.
The set of drawing tools put at your disposal is decent and allows you to perform various operations with ease. You might first of all want to define a unit to use as reference, which can be displayed in multiple standard notations or simply, units.
Ranging from simple lines to custom polygons, you can measure paths, angles, lengths and areas. Anchor points are found all over lines so you can carefully adjust shapes to capture areas of interest. What's more, export options let you save data to several commonly used table file types.
